What in the world are you thinking!

Today matters.

So often we postpone our joy. Don’t we? I think you know what I mean.

We put it off to some future event or situation that we look forward to, saying to ourselves, “When this event happens in a few days, or when I have this or that - then I will be more joyful and more happy.” And so we wait, we hold off the moment.

But why?

Everyday is a gift. Everyday is special. Can anybody claim the value and worth of a single day? What about if it was someone’s last day? How valuable would it be to them? Can you imagine a monetary value you could give to buy that final day off that person?

What if we were to enjoy our days, all of them to our highest ability? To be thankful to God that he has allowed us to be alive in this day, and given us the privilege to use it. This reminds me of a song lyric…

‘Today is the day you have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.’

This perspective, this lifestyle, not only pleases God, but helps us to appreciate the beautiful value of… today. Because today is where we have the power to choose that we are grateful and thankful for the gift of life.
